I think the long arc of human history was like our childhood. We were playful, cruel, innocent and we believed in magic. Now, as we move into adolescence we're starting to understand and recognize our actions. The consequences. Like the deep pain we caused the natural world. Its fragility that we hold in our hands. The Birds Nest. A site-specific art installation by Artist David Tully. In association with the OPW / Heritage Ireland. Open during park hours. October 17th to January 2025. There is a small catch though! You'll have to find it.

The Hotel

I keep getting nightmares about a Hotel I used to live in. Long corridors lined with small bug eyed people. People with no eyes wandering around the backyard. A chair they want me to sit in. It's all crazy and a little disturbing. At one point I felt myself floating up near the ceiling.

Shiri, there's alot of secrets in the secret sauce. Work, discipline, experimentation, talent and freedom. Freedom most of all. They're earned secrets. Not to be handed out lightly.

This is completely generative. Started w/ a sketch and something I've been thinking about for awhile. It almost saddens me doing things on this level. Because there's absolutely no where to go with it in Ireland. But I'd like to make it. With a few more layers it'd be beautiful.

The Barn Owl

I'm making Barn Owls at the moment. I don't know why.

The first and only time I heard an Owl was in the sweetest little valley in France. Just below the Pyrenees. It was a warm still night when I heard the hoot. Then I heard his friend reply in the quiet distance. Then I saw the giant great arm of the Milky Way for the first time. Same night. Millions of stars. Like a sparkling city within reach. Suzy found this place. She moved here shortly after her daughter died. To heal. And perhaps, forgive herself too.

I didn't know why I was making Barn Owls. Some things come like a gentle whisper, very easily dismissed. You just have to let it in for a bit and the answer slowly reveals itself. I now know what I'm doing. Found the direction "The Museum Owl". But it'll take time. David Bowie once said, discipline isn't about turning up for work every morning. It's more about having your goal and seeing it thru, no matter what. Thats the discipline. The result. Otherwise what is it, words, talk, dreams, emotion, hope.
